The Sirius 1, launched in 1982, was an innovative personal computer designed by Chuck Peddle (creator of the 6502 processor and Commodore PET). It featured an Intel 8088 processor, 128K RAM, twin 5.25-inch floppy drives, and bespoke monitor. Distributed by ACT in the UK for £2,395, it was more successful in Europe than the US. This success led ACT to develop their own computer, the Apricot. The Sirius 1 was later rebranded as the Victor 9000.
This ACT Sirius 1 Vintage Computer was owned by a gentleman residing near Gloucester, England, who used it to write notes and scripts for video production. The unit does work and the drives make an initialisation sound on startup, but I’d still describe it as a project. The aged anti-glare coating on the screen makes reading the text difficult, whilst the whole monitor and base unit have discoloured from years of loft-dwelling. It comes with a Brother HR-20 printer (unknown working condition) and a variety of 5.25″ disks including a copy of Wordcraft with manual.
Viewing is recommended, and I’d very much prefer to have it collected rather than ship an item of this fragile nature, however if you are serious about wanting it delivered and are prepared to take that risk then send me a message.
