Sony really couldn’t have delivered a bigger middle finger to Nintendo in 1994 after plans to launch a combined CD addon for the Super Nintendo Failed. It came in the form of the PlayStation – a cd-based system that competed with the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64. The PlayStation console was the first system to ship over 100 million units and the huge library of PlayStation games included Final Fantasy VII, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Metal Gear Solid, Wipeout, Tombraider… need I go on?
