The formula was simple. Take the power of the Master System and shrink it enough to fit into a handheld console to rival, or rather, crush the Game Boy. Unfortunately for Sega, the limited battery life coupled to a fuzzy, albeit colour, screen meant it simply couldn’t stop Nintendo in their tracks. Despite this, the Game Gear was home to some great titles and is increasingly collectible with aftermarket screen and power improvements available.
