Registered new to its first owner, a Mrs. Bland of Morecambe, Lancashire, this 1983 Fiat 126 for sale at Retro Sect is an original right-hand drive that has since had a further 9 owners. It was purchased by the current owner from Jaguar Land Rover Classic, the heritage division of JLR that purchased a large number of vehicles from the very well-known “Dentist Collection” belonging to a Mr James Hull in 2014.  Totalling some 543 cars, the lot was purchased in order to secure some special Jaguars including an SS100, a rare alloy XK120, early E-types and a MK X once owned by Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons.

After forming part of their collection for approximately 5 years, this Fiat 126 was purchased by the current owner in December of 2019 from the subsequent auction of surplus vehicles by JLR, the current owner took it for an MOT which it did not pass. Work was completed to make it roadworthy and the car passed its MOT in June 2020,

The current owner has since refitted the interior with new carpets and other replacement accessories and has just had a new choke cable fitted as the previous one was very sticky.

The history file includes a large number of historical MOTs from 1993 onwards as well as some invoices for work completed by the owner previous to James Hull in 2010 – 2011.

The car comes with a large box of spare parts including replacement brake drums, calipers and cables, a replacement carburettor a variety of light fittings, relays and other miscellaneous items. The car comes with its original jack and spare wheel (tyre in good condition).

Though solid and structurally sound, there are some areas of the bodywork that would benefit from attention, and the driver’s door is rusting at the bottom.

With only 35,000 miles on the odometer, this car is now tax and MOT exempt, making it a fantastic little entry into classic car ownership with low running costs.  It would require further work to make it the perfect classic daily driver around towns and cities.
